The factory 2.9TT intercooler is a 1,870 cm3 water-to-air core sharing engine coolant, and it heat soaks even on a stock RS5. The iE Air-To-Air FDS Intercooler replaces it with an 18,500 cm3 core, nearly ten times the volume, plus our Flow Distribution System spreading charge air evenly across all of it. Cooler air, less pressure drop, and up to 36 HP and 35 ft-lbs.

Going air-to-air divorces the core from engine coolant. That means a massive increase in surface area for heat rejection, less water weight up front, and a factory radiator that can focus on keeping the drivetrain cool instead of fighting your charge air.

A huge core only helps if air uses all of it. Precisely shaped fins inside the end tank spread airflow evenly across the core surface, which improves heat transfer and speeds recovery between pulls.

Average IAT gain over six consecutive 12-second pulls in one gear. Stock climbs every pull. The iE intercooler stays low and stable. This was on a hub dyno, so real-world airflow on the road should cool even better.

Power gained over the stock intercooler across the rev range. Most of the gain comes from less timing and boost pulled once intake temps stay low.

FAQs

Why switch from water-to-air?

The stock water-to-air core is small and shares engine coolant, so it heat soaks quickly. Air-to-air lets us fit a core nearly ten times larger and takes the load off your radiator.

How much power does it add?

Back-to-back on a Stage 1 RS5, up to 36 HP and 35 ft-lbs, mostly from less timing and boost pulled as intake temps stay low.

Does it fit my RS4 or a European RS5?

No. Fitment is confirmed for North American RS5 only.

Is the install hard?

It is involved. Plan 2-4 hours, drain coolant, and do some minor plastic trimming. A lift helps.

B9.5 Audi RS5

Amazing product! Once I saw the adjustment was made for the piping to the throttle body, I had to pick this up! I did the install myself and it was very straightforward. Instructions, along with a YouTube video, really made this great DIY project. IAT is very consistent and stays at, or slightly above, ambient temps.

Great Fit and instructions

We have a lift so this made our install better but man the instructions provided with this are incredible. Super easy install with the right tools. Just a hint though, getting the old intercooler off is a B, use a jack to force it off the grommets. The fit and finish is too notch and looks incredible. Great job guys now we just need a stage 3 tune!
