Expect up to +87hp from a stage 1 tune, and up to 462 hp with a stage 2 tune and accompanying hardware.

How do I install the VW MK8 Golf R ECU upgrade?

Our VW Golf R 2022-2024 performance tune supports MK8 tune applications. Unfortunately, due to security blocks, it does not support 2025+ MK8.5 Golf R tune applications at the moment. Compatibility can be confirmed directly inside the POWERlink app before purchase.

Do I need a TCU unlock or DSG tune for the MK8 Golf R?

Most models have a locked transmission computer. Our MK8 Golf R ECU tune includes custom torque management, so full power is achieved without a TCU unlock. If your TCU is unlockable, adding the iE MK8 DSG Tune further improves shift speed, acceleration, and drivability.

Do I need to rebuy tunes when I upgrade parts?

No. POWERlink Suites are built to grow with your build. If you purchase Pro or Apex, all supported performance files are included. When you install new hardware, simply flash the appropriate file. No repurchasing. You have unlimited access to all files and features, including stock, in your purchased tier for life.

Do POWERlink adjustable features require extra hardware?

Stage 2 tune on my 2024 VW MK8 R DSG

I’ve ran stage 2 for a year now and it runs great and have no complaints. Finally able to unlock the tcu so I’m excited to flash it with IE as well and the powerlink makes is so accessible and easy!

Stage 2 on my 2024 VW MK8 R DSG

I’ve ran stage 2 for about a year now and the tune has held up grate even in the winter without any hiccups. I highly recommend IE as the powerlink makes it easy to adjust settings!

Stage 01 Pro... wakes up MK8R

Some connection issues with the initial flash which is length download via bluetooth but was quickly remedied by hard wiring and using desktop app. The updated install module made installing Stage 01 streamlined prompting which upgrades have been installed and directing to select type of fuel. This part of install took about 10 mins and once completed it truly opens the car up offering gauges, sound options and valve options....also cleared an annoying air bag error. The perfomance of the car has dramatically improved, coupled with the IE exhaust, intercooler and charge pipped the car pulls steadily through out higher revs, coolant temp never exceeds 194 even in Georgia summer heat with air conditioning running. Conservatively i would estimate about 60HP gain. Looking forward to upgrading the clutch and taking full advantage with Stage 02 Apex.

Mk8 golf r tune

I did a fair bit of research on various tunes and there are many very good choices. I especially liked IE and the phone based tune. I further appreciated the customer service who answered my questions prior to purchasing.

The tune was quite easy to install and makes a very good vehicle even better.

I use the 91 octane tune.

The car has an intake and in the future expect to purchase an intercooler.

I am happy with my choice.
