Your factory TSI power plant is controlled by a very advanced Engine Control Unit (ECU). This complicated computer is loaded with maps and routines to operate your vehicle efficiently, however, much of the available performance is left on the table and the calibration is not written to take advantage of aftermarket power adders such as cold air intakes, intercoolers, donwpipes and turbo upgrades. IE's advanced ECU Tunes are extensively engineering to completely reverse-engineer the factory mapping and re-write new calibrations for ultimate performance without sacrificing factory comfort and reliability. These perfected ECU Tunes undergo thousands of hours dyno testing, street analysis, track days, altitude verification and more. Each test results obsessive revisions resulting in a rounded tune that will take your VW or Audi 2.0T TSI engine from "peppy" to "WOW"!

HOW DO I INSTALL THE TUNE?

IE's own in-house developed POWERlink cable and software gives you the freedom to quickly flash your car’s engine control unit (ECU) or transmission control unit (TCU) with your new IE performance tune. The cable simply plugs into your vehicle’s OBD-2 port, from there simply follow the on-screen directions to quickly upload the tune. Adding horsepower is as easy as clicking FLASH NOW!

The flash tool also grants instant access to upgrade tune stages, switch fuel octanes, flash back to stock, perform engine diagnostics, read/clear codes and gather high-quality operating data via logging.

PLEASE NOTE: Mobile phone app flashing support is unavailable for VW MK6 (EA888 Gen 1 & 2) generation 2.0T engines. These engine ECUs require a Windows 10 or newer laptop for tuning.

IE Stage 1 Intake Manifold software fine-tunes the ECU calibration to match the manifold plenum and runner flow characteristics along with special tuning for the removed runner flaps. Even though tuning now matches higher flow characteristics of the intake manifold, performance numbers are still limited by the factory downpipe. Because of this, Stage 1 IM combination is only recommended for users who are planning on Stage 2 IM in the future, are trying to get rid of constantly failing runner flaps or cracking plastic manifolds, and building for improved engine bay looks.

Included with all Stage 2 & K04 Tune purchases, This manifold calibration is designed for customers looking to maximize the performance of the turbocharger with an IE 2.0T Performance Intake Manifold (Sold Separately). WHAT DOES AN ECU TUNE DO?

Your factory TSI power plant is controlled by a very advanced Engine Control Unit (ECU). This complicated computer is loaded with maps and routines to operate your vehicle efficiently, however, much of the available performance is left on the table and the calibration is not written to take advantage of aftermarket power adders such as cold air intakes, intercoolers, donwpipes and turbo upgrades. IE's advanced ECU Tunes are extensively engineering to completely reverse-engineer the factory mapping and re-write new calibrations for ultimate performance without sacrificing factory comfort and reliability. These perfected ECU Tunes undergo thousands of hours dyno testing, street analysis, track days, altitude verification and more. Each test results obsessive revisions resulting in a rounded tune that will take your VW or Audi 2.0T TSI engine from "peppy" to "WOW"!

HOW DO I INSTALL THE TUNE?

IE's own in-house developed POWERlink cable and software gives you the freedom to quickly flash your car’s engine control unit (ECU) or transmission control unit (TCU) with your new IE performance tune. The cable simply plugs into your vehicle’s OBD-2 port, from there simply follow the on-screen directions to quickly upload the tune. Adding horsepower is as easy as clicking FLASH NOW!

The flash tool also grants instant access to upgrade tune stages, switch fuel octanes, flash back to stock, perform engine diagnostics, read/clear codes and gather high-quality operating data via logging.

PLEASE NOTE: Mobile phone app flashing support is unavailable for VW MK6 (EA888 Gen 1 & 2) generation 2.0T engines. These engine ECUs require a Windows 10 or newer laptop for tuning.

STAGE 1 MANIFOLD

This free option is included with a Stage 1 Tune purchase and is for owners who have installed an IE Performance Intake Manifold (Sold Separately). IE Stage 1 Intake Manifold software fine-tunes the ECU calibration to match the manifold plenum and runner flow characteristics along with special tuning for the removed runner flaps. Even though tuning now matches higher flow characteristics of the intake manifold, performance numbers are still limited by the factory downpipe. Because of this, Stage 1 IM combination is only recommended for users who are planning on Stage 2 IM in the future, are trying to get rid of constantly failing runner flaps or cracking plastic manifolds, and building for improved engine bay looks.

Stage 2/K04 MANIFOLD

Included with all Stage 2 & K04 Tune purchases, This manifold calibration is designed for customers looking to maximize the performance of the turbocharger with an IE 2.0T Performance Intake Manifold (Sold Separately). Like Stage 1 IM tune, this software fine-tunes the ECU calibration to match the manifold plenum and runner flow characteristics along with special tuning for the removed runner flaps. INCREASED RPM
IE 2.0T TSI Tunes continue to make power beyond the factory rev limiter, to take advantage of the larger power band, the rev limits have been raised. All tunes include a new RPM range of 7000RPM. On DSG equipped cars, our DSG Tune is required to unlock these higher RPM ranges.
DSG Calibration will shift slightly before these rev limiters.

IE Stage 1: 2010 VW Jetta Wolfsburg - CBFA engine)

Wow! What a change. I dont' know why I waited so long. The power off the line and the low end torque, especially in 3rd and 4th are fantastic. The car really pulls now and I have to be conscious of modulating the clutch more to avoid wheel hop. I had the CAI for quite some time and looking forward to adding the downpipe and stage 2.

Flashed a Tiguan!

This flash was for a CCTA K04 93 octane tune for a Jetta or similar car. We installed the South Bend stage 2 daily clutch, 3" downpipe and cat, 3" cold air intake. When we did the flash, the K04 93 octane tune didn't show up in the list. Instead, the stage 2 91 octane tune was there. I was very disappointed. I called and spoke to Kyle. He said there was no tune available for this particular ECM on our Tiguan. But to give them some time for their lab guys to put one together for me. I did not have high hopes for getting my flash anytime soon. But, I put the matter out of my mind and kept myself occupied by doing some paintless dent removal. By that same afternoon, Kyle emailed me and told me that my flash would be in the list on the dongle! It was, and we did flash it successfully. It is quite a beast now. It's the perfect sleeper. Thanks, IE! The only problem I have now is so much wheelspin. Next mod is a DSG AWD setup from a wrecked 4MO TIG and a TTS.

IE Stage 1: No-brainer (2012 VW Tiguan - CCTA engine)

After driving my 2012 VW Tiguan SE with 2.0 TSI CCTA engine and IE Stage 1 ECU tune (93 octane): boy, was it worth it!

First of all, the car finally doesn’t feel as dead anymore accelerating from idle. Beforehand it really crawled off the line until reaching boost, now there is more of a distinctive kick to it stepping on the gas. If I were IE I would advertise that, it’s not subtle!

Generally speaking, the torque band is now so much wider and the power delivery not only more powerful, but also way more even. I have to admit that I did not expect this big of a difference! The car just pulls way more playfully, and what I especially love are the increased turbo noises, simply a result of higher boost being released upon lifting I suppose. On OBDEleven I was able to verify that ECU now demands much higher boost levels (well over 2 Bars), and the effects are obvious. Other reviews have said this before, but the far really feels much more like it’s meant to be now.

Flashing the ECU was beyond easy, I do have some advice for Mac users though (and I think IE should consider putting this in their own FAQ / support docs):

Since I have no regular access to any Windows machines I was considering purchasing a cheap old laptop first, but then decided to give it a go using Parallels Desktop with Windows 11 ARM as a virtual machine on my 2020 M1 MacBook Pro - worked absolutely flawlessly. So flashing even using Apple Silicon is absolutely possible.
