IE RACE CAMS FOR 500+HP BUILDS

The IECVA1-1 Race Exhaust Camshaft when matched with our IECVA1-2 Race Intake Camshaft is our most aggressive cam set combination. This cam features a unique profile and centerline grind designed for larger-sized aftermarket turbo builds in the 500-850+ horsepower range with an ideal powerband of 5500RPM-8500+RPM.

REQUIRES IE INTAKE CAM

This intake camshaft is designed to be installed along with a matching IE exhaust camshaft. Depending on your turbocharger, this cam can be used with either our race or street/race exhaust camshafts. Due to the large profiles, IECVA1 camshafts produce a lopey idle and are recommended for race use.

Compatible Exhaust Camshafts:

  • IECVA1-2 Race Intake Camshaft
  • IECVA2-2 Street/Race Intake Camshaft

INSTALLATION

This camshaft has been designed specifically for the 1.8T 20V (06A & 058) engines and engineered for easy installation. The cam sprocket is pre-set for optimal performance and features a factory-style timing mark that follows the exact same installation process as a stock camshaft.

VALVE SPRINGS & RETAINERS

Larger turbos and camshafts allow for a larger powerband and higher RPM limits putting more strain on the valvetrain components. Upgrading the valve springs and retainers to match is highly recommended. For the best results in optimum valvetrain harmonics, safe revving, and long cylinder head life install your new camshaft along with an IE 1.8T 20V Valve Spring & Retainer Kit

WHY SHOULD I UPGRADE CAMSHAFTS?

The factory-equipped camshafts in your VW/Audi 1.8T 20V engine are tuned for the small stock turbocharger. Stock cams are designed for low boost pressures in low RPM ranges, which is at odds with aftermarket larger turbos that run higher boost pressures at higher RPMs. Matching the valve lift to the turbo's most efficient range with camshafts sequences your valvetrain to your turbo and unlocks instant power gains when setup correctly.
