Force feed your 2013.5+ Jetta or GLI with the EA888 Gen 3 1.8T or 2.0T TSI engine a supply of cold air with this direct-fit high-flow cold air intake kit. This intake features a generously-sized inlet pipe that receives high-velocity air fed directly from a 5" bellmouth. Our high-flow velocity stack is neatly housed in a heat shield, which separates the air filter from the hot under-hood air, allowing only cold air to be drawn into the turbo inlet directly from the front of the car.

DIRECT FIT

This air intake kit provides all the necessary piping and couplers to plumb the intake system from the turbo to the heat shield. The heat shield installs using the OE grommets for easy maintenance and reliable mounting with no rubbing or interference with other factory parts.

HIGH-FLOW VELOCITY STACK

The air intake utilizes a high-flow velocity stack behind the air filter to deliver as much air as possible. This bellmouth design increases the air velocity to the turbocharger and pulls cold air equally from all directions into the filter. This bellmouth is securely fastened to the heat shield as a clean pass-through providing a solid mount for the air filter and turbo inlet pipe. You have no worry of the intake pipe moving around and causing damage unlike other intake kits on the market, which simply clamp the filter onto the end of the inlet pipe or MAF. Furthermore, the bellmouth opening allows for a filter with a very large surface area that can support any horsepower goal. The same filter and bellmouth design have been tested to support over 500HP!

THERMAL BLOCKING HEAT SHIELD

The IE heat shield is designed to create a thermal barrier blocking all of the radiant heat from the engine bay. Only cold air from the front of the vehicle is drawn into the filter from the opening in the radiator support keeping air intake temperatures as cold as possible. This allows factory placement of the intake to be used without placing the filter lower in the vehicle where it can be subjected to engine harming road debris or fluid.

DO YOU NEED AN SAI KIT?

Your Jetta/GLI Gen 3 2.0T or 1.8T engines may have come factory equipped with a secondary air injection (SAI) pump. Engines with SAI require an IE SAI Filter Adapter Kit for this SAI line when installing an aftermarket intake. Engines not equipped with this SAI pump do not require this filter kit. Identify if your engine requires an SAI filter kit using the photos below and add an SAI filter kit above if needed when ordering your intake.

Sounds Amazing!

I love the intake, the style, the performance.

So accompanying mods always play a key role in regards to how another part will perform.

2015 1.8T VW Passat Limited Ed. FWD.

Installed this I.E. air intake kit

ECS Intercooler Upgrade with silicone couplers

CTS Throttle pipe

CTS Charge pipe

CTS Turbo Outlet Pipe

Turbo muffler delete

Gutted Cats--Stock exhaust otherwise

Lightweight Crank Pulley

Burger Performance Pedal Tuner (must have for throttle response-- especially if you want to drive chill on the highway with eco settings :)

The car makes vastly more noticeable power with all of this, but without upgrading the turbo... it still seems short of happiness.

If i was keeping it long term, id do a custom APR tune and add the is20 or larger. But would need to mod the intercooler piping routing etc. And dont care to do that.

Premium gas always (because i love my car and $8k over 20 years is not a big deal)(cost difference between reg and premium avg 3.46 vs. 2.86 per gallon.(jan 2024)

With that being said. The car sounds INCREDIBLE with the I.E. intake. I got compliments from the other tuners for its sound quality. Due to compressed air.. the intake only adds a tiny bit of hp. But i have the most free available air to the turbo possible with all this.

Again, the intake sounds so good. The turbo spool, waaaa pushhhhhhh sounds, and air on demand for fast spool. It is well worth…

Simply Clean

Honestly, install was very simple. Everything went in beautifully. Sounds amazing, cleans up the engine bay a bit and makes ya smile. Only issue that I faced was I did not recieve the nuts to the bolts for the bridge piece that sets the shield in place, so it was a pain to go out and find ones that fit properly. Otherwise, I'm stoked to get more things from IE after getting to experience the quality of parts they make!
